Featuring free property-wide WiFi, a spa centre and a seasonal outdoor pool, Matsushima Ichinobo offers accommodation in Matsushima. Everything is amazing. It is expensive, but you get what you pay. I recommend staying for at least 2 nights. I stayed for only one night, and I think I could have enjoyed more (like the gardens and the free rental bike service) if I had more time. Having said that,I thoroughly enjoyed my bedroom, the lounge, restaurant, the baths. The free all you can eat ice cream in the lounge was also a positive surprise.

Tagoto ligt op 5 minuten rijden van het station Aizu Wakamatsu en beschikt over een warm openbaar bad, Japanse en westerse kamers en Japanse gerechten. The food was delicious, plentiful and allowed us to try traditional cuisine as well as some new foods we hadn't tried before. An open mind is required for some of the sashimi's. The futon beds were very comfortable and the bathing room was amazing. The hostesses were so friendly and helpful, we were travelling with our 10 month old and they all loved him and were understanding when he was loud at times. We would love to stay here again in the future. Knowing basic Japanese or using Google translate is highly recommended if visiting this accomodation.

Het Tamonkan wordt omgeven door heilige bergen en ongerepte natuur en is gevestigd in een historisch gebouw in Japanse stijl. U wordt hier verwelkomd met gratis thee en lekkers. I kept receiving recommendations for Tamonkan on Booking.com and Google Maps while searching for accommodation in Shonai. Despite being hesitant to book due to its distance from the airport and the specific location we needed for that weekend, I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! Our stay at Tamonkan exceeded all expectations. It was our first experience staying at a Ryokan since we moved to Japan earlier this year. The place was exceptionally clean, and the food was simply amazing! The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet, and it was only a 10-minute walk to the entrance of Mt.Haguro, with cozy local shops where we could grab lunch and snacks. (By the way, I highly recommend booking a room with breakfast and dinner to save yourself the hassle.) I had concerns about the shared Sento, but even on busier days, I never had to share the bath with other in-house guests. It was a splendid experience, and we're already planning to stay at Tamonkan again the next time we visit Shonai.

Miyamaso Takamiya ligt op 10 minuten lopen van de kabelbaan Zao Sky en beschikt over 9 natuurlijke warmwaterbronnen. Our stay at Takamiya Ryokan Miyamaso was one of our highlights of our honeymoon! The hotel is insanely charming and very well kept. You can see it's an old building but it doesn't look old or worn down. The staff are friendly and polite, and greet you by the door when you arrive and leave the hotel. They were also very accomodating to us when we asked to keep out futons out, as we wanted to take a nap during the day. Dinner and breakfast was amazing and a lovely experience, it was delicious and presented nicely and staff was attentive and friendly. Our suite was amazing, and we loved having our own private bath outside on a balcony overlooking a snowy hill.

Shikitei Morioka TsunagiOnsen ligt op 7 minuten lopen van het Gosho-meer en biedt gratis WiFi en warmwaterbronnen binnen en buiten. It is a very convenient that there’s indoor spring pool. The food was very good, we stayed 2 nights, and they changed the menu. I even think they upgraded. I love traditional spring hotel. The service is person to person feel very warm.

Komatsukan Kofu-tei ligt recht tegenover de baai van Matsushima, en biedt accommodatie met gratis vast internet. Great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful room with a stunning view over Matsushima bay. Make sure to get breakfast and dinner at the hotel as the food is amazing.

Yasuragino Yado -Iyashino Yu- ligt in Kitakami, op 42 km van tempel Chusonji, en biedt accommodatie met gratis WiFi en gratis privéparkeren. I didn't take the breakfast, so I can't comment on it. Location was good for me since I wanted to walk everyday.
