Situato a Matsumoto, a 47 km dal Japan Ukiyo-e Museum e a pochi passi dal Kappa Bridge, il Kamikochi Nishi-itoya Mountain lodge offre un ristorante, un salone in comune, un giardino e il WiFi... there was western style breakfast available but we chose Japnese breakfast. The place is in the magic location it was comfortable, clean, the onsen was ok and there were private facilities as well.

Located in the historical Shibu Onsen district, 渋温泉小石屋旅館 offers both private and dormitory-style guest rooms as well as an on-site restaurant where local dishes, wines and craft beers are available. The staff was so friendly, and the hotel has a great vibe. The building and facilities may be old, but that's really part of its charm. We would come back again for sure.

Struttura molto bella, personale gentilissimo e disponibile. La nostra camera era un appartamento composto da stanza da letto con futon, ampio soggiorno e terrazzo. La camera aveva un arredamento un po’ datato ma comunque confortevole e spaziosa. Bella Onsen. Per la cena e colazione avevamo uno spazio tutto nostro ed è stato tutto magnifico per l’attenzione che il personale ci ha riservato. A 7-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Yorozuya features hot spring baths, a hot tub and Japanese-style rooms with a private terrace and private bathroom. Without requesting, they sent a chauffeur to drive us from the station to the hotel on a rainy night. The food is great, the baths are large, and the rooms are cozy. Top class service.

Situato a soli 5 minuti a piedi dallo storico Santuario Togakushi, in una tranquilla zona di montagna, l'Oshi Ryokan, caratterizzato da un edificio principale con tetto in paglia risalente a 250 anni... Wonderful traditional ryokan owned by the Oshi family for 200 years. I stayed in a spacious tatami room on the ground floor with beautiful views of the garden. Very peaceful to sit and stare outside. Delicious breakfast and dinner add on options and a very friendly host who made me feel like I was in a second home. Will definitely be returning again. The ryokan is conveniently located steps from the bus stop and takes about 1 hr on a direct bus from Nagano station. It's 3 mins walk from the steps of the first of five shrines (lower shrine) of Togakuji so I highly recommend completing the Togakuji "pilgrimage" trail to see all of them. Beautiful 300+ yr old cedar trees line the paths. Togakuji is the birthplace of soba noodles and beside Chusa Otorii (middle shrine) is the #1 soba noodles restaurant, Uzuraya. There are long wait times at the restaurant so I put my name down at Uzuraya on my way up on the hike and it was ready by the time I returned to dine right away. It was around a 3 hr roundtrip hike from the ryokan or 4-5 hrs with breaks and lunch. Great way to explore the area.

Situato a soli 10 minuti di auto dallo Snow Monkey Park, lo Yudanaka Onsen Yamazakiya offre semplici sistemazioni in stile giapponese con connessione WiFi gratuita. Akira and Yumi were exceptional hosts, super friendly and polite. The ryokan was even more beautiful than in the pictures. The private onsen was wonderful and we were able to go there whenever we wanted. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. Akira and Yumi were also able to cater for my multiple allergies which amazed me. Our room had a beautiful view overlooking the river. The sound of the white water was relaxing.

A 3-minute walk from Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort, Kadowakikan features ski-to-door access, a hot spring bath and free WiFi. Mr. Kadowakikan was super friendly and helpful. He picked us up and dropped us off at the shuttle bus stop. He helped us order rental ski/snowboard equipment to the hotel. The hotel's own onsen was very clean and more comfortable than the town's free onsens.

I opted for the Kaiseki meal with my stay and it was largely very good. The room was comfortable and clean, and the location was very central to the station and bus stops to attractions like the Monkey Park. Staff were helpful and attentive, and the outdoor hot spring bath was beautiful and well maintained. It was on the pricier side but the value was also high.
