We loved this hotel. The location was excellent. The staff was so helpful. Most of all they had a "livng room" with free coffee/tea, a microwave and a long dining table/chairs and a couch and many reference books about Japan and Kyoto. It was so easy to order take out across the street and bring it back to eat here..cheaper and quicker on some days. Also, the amenities were amazing. A whole set of shelves with anything you might need.

We had our luggage delivered (pre-paid) from Tokyo and I used the phone in the lobby to inquire about it and they quickly brought it out. We also used the microwave, ice machine and laundry (on the 2nd and 3rd floors).

The free evening drink and nightly live music while sitting out by the firepits was absolutely charming. I loved that there were mocktail options! Breakfast variety was great too. All employees were very courteous and kind. Proximity to Kyoto Station was great.

The view of the sea and location were good. Room size good but no amenities like bar, resturant vending. Old fashion like leave key to room at front desk when leaving premises. Phones in the room had no volume control..
Asked for the front desk to arrange for a cab to Beppu Station the night before. We were told in the morning that cab service was not available at 7am and no bus service was available in city at that hour.. we had to walk 25 minutes in the rain carrying suitcases. The problem was 20 taxi cabs passed us with passengers, and a public bus passed in the other direction. Felt staff lied to us.
The hotel has made a lot of upgrades but has a way to go. If visiting city wo u l probably stay here again.

The lights by the Kyoto station make the city live and lots of people in the surrounding.
Most eateries are pretty small compared to Tokyo, and need to wait for a long time which is not great for tourists as time is extremely valuable as tourists.

Kyoto was excellent we stayed 4 days and the most surprising thing was the food. It was absolutely excellent! It rained for two days so that did hinder tourist visits but we had excellent time. We didn’t do any tours just wandered around - hired a bike - went to temples and the city provided in abundance Ps don’t go to the Bamboo Forest on a Sunday!! Too packed :)

It's generally a very beautiful city, I could spend a whole month there and take my time to see many places which are less crowded...
I went to Kuuya-no-Taki Waterfall - almost no one around all the way and the trip through the magical scented pine trees was soul fulfilling.
The Hozugawa River Boat Ride through majestic scenery and the Romantic train, as well as walking alone along the river - totally worth it. The boat drivers - great entertainers!
Mount Hiei and the temples there - another magical place to experience silence and natural beauty.
Google maps finds you anywhere and points you to the nearest public transport station, so I really appreciate this acuracy and reliability, it matters if you like wondering around the nature on your own... and it's a great and safe way to avoid the crowds...

A vibrant city with so many attractions worth visiting and enjoying. The locals are so polite and helpful it makes tourng around the city so much esier. Unfortunately many others love Kyoto as well and the crowds at key attractions can be duanting I feel for the locals trying to go about their daya to day activities in amongst so many tourists.

Smaller than Tokyo, Kyoto offers more Temples, shrines and gardens with less travel. Use of local buses in recommended, although busy, the fix price, 230yen, makes for good value. Southern Tori gates can be reached on the train. A great area, but long pull to the top for not a great deal of return. Maybe stop at the viewpoints.

Kyoto Castle, Golden Pavilion and Silver Pavilion worth...
Kyoto Castle, Golden Pavilion and Silver Pavilion worth seeing and walking back down the Philosophers Path. Pontocho area by the river is atmospheric, Gion Corner (show) was enjoyable.
However, the Higashiyama area between Kodai-ji and Kiyomizu-dera was chock full of tour groups when we visited one afternoon. Maybe a very early morning or evening visit would be better.
Hotel's location is the best one can get. It is literally opposite the Toji Station of the Kintetsu line.
It was very easy to travel to Nara from here without any hassle.
Also one of the bus stops of Bus Route 207 is right outside the hotel gate making it easy to travel easily.
The free round the clock coffee and water machines are a wonderful feature which we didnt find in any other hotel in Tokyo in our stay. The breakfast was very healthy . Loved the mini hamburgers.
The paid laundary service was also very helpful.
Beautiful Ryokan in the middle of Kyoto, walking distance to popular districts while having a relaxing location. The staff were beyond welcoming and made us feel at home. They provided traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner which was delicious. Sleeping in the traditional Japanese tatami beds was one of the best sleeps I've had, they provided pyjamas and yakata/robes to wear around the hotel. It was like a well serviced and welcoming BnB. I definitely would stay here again and wish I had stayed longer than 2 days.
The staff is excellent. They are very helpful and attentive. They always greeted us when we would leave the hotel and come back. Very modern and clean facility. The breakfast was the star of the show. The hotel breakfast may have been one of the best meals we have ate on this Japan trip and we have been to Japan multiple times before. We at there twice in 3 days. There is a also a very good grocery store underneath the hotel. This hotel is great for families also. We highly recommend this hotel.
I loved how everything was always kept clean. They also provide free rental pajamas and towels, as well as the basic toiletries. The room was really cozy. I didn’t have that huge of a luggage with me so the space was just right for me. I also am happy that it’s right beside Gojo Station entrance, a McDonalds, and quite a few good restaurants as well! Kyoto Station was also just 15 minutes away.
I’d say, for the price, they’re among the best value for money hotel in Kyoto!
The room is huge! The subway station is a very short walking distance, so convenient, lots of supermarkets and restaurants nearby. Having a kitchen in the room made things so much easier and the room even has a smart tv, so we got to stream our favourite shows when we just wanted to wind down from a long day outside. The staff are so nice and helpful, this is by far the best out of the 5 hotels I have stayed in while in Japan.
The staff smile and help was heartwarming.
Always ready and will do they're best to help.
Inclouding cleaning staff, super polite and concederate.
The location is perfect, train to Osaka and out of Kyoto ia next to the hotel, train for Arashiyama right infront of it. And Kyoto which uses a lot of bus, the station near the hotel makes it feel like central station, you can get anywhere and back very easy.
The staff of Dhawa Yura were all extremely helpful and friendly--likely the best we have experienced in our many many years of travel both domestic and international. Rooms were spotlessly clean. Beds were very comfortable. The location near the center of town, across from a river, near Gion, and next to a subway was perfect. The hotel restaurant was excellent.
Exceptional accommodation in a fantastic location. Short walk to the main shops and station. The room was spacious and very clean and comfortable. Great mattresses! The staff were very professional and lovely. Great security for guests and amenities such as coin op washing machines are available. This was the best hotel I stayed in during my visit to Japan.
It's an amazing hotel with just the necessary amenities for a solo traveler! Great location, close to the train station entrances and right next to Nishiki Market Street, one of the best places in Kyoto to buy local omiyage and foods! This was my second time staying and I'll definitely stay again whenever I return to Kyoto!
Location location and location, while the facilities are great and nothing to complain about, this hotels main advantage and selling point is its proximity to local attractions.
Lovely boutique hotel with nice staff and best location. I like the way it's tucked into the side street, like it's hidden away.
The location was the best thing about our stay. Directly next to the station, it made our life much easier with commuting. The hotel itself is clean and has all basic neccassities and the people were friendly. hot
I couldn't use the onsen because of my tattoos but I checked it out and it looked nice.
The location, the room and the staff courtesy. The location was the best thing about this hotel. 5 min walk from Kyoto station and right opposite coco curry - my fav place for curries. Also a coin laundry right opposite the hotel. Couldn't have asked for more. Will surely come back and stay here again.
The space of the room was the biggest of all the hotels we stayed at in Japan. We loved the proximity to the train station, since we used Kyoto as a base so we could travel fast from it to the surrounding cities. The staff was nice, and it was always clean. Best decision we made in our trip.
The hotel overall deserves its 5 stars. The bakery in the lobby is a real sensation. The tapas at the restaurant are delicious. The rooms are great.
The location is perfect - walking distance to Gion and Kyōto Station (30 minutes, mostly along the river).
the best location in the city center. near to the subway station (an exit near to the hotel has an elevator.) also many restaurants near by. a couple convenience stores and supermarkets. We enjoyed a public bath in the hotel, especially cold winter season.
Property is close to the station, gion, and pontocho. The hotel staff is accommodating for english travellers. Basic amenities including multipurpose cream and bath salt are provided. Best thing I can say is their free daily sake. Makes it worth the stay!
Would gatekeep this fabulous hotel but sharing all the goodness. Loved the Onsen. Appreciated the daily free drink during the DJset. Loved the aesthetics. Best PJs we had in Japan. Nishiki market/Gion is walkable.
Location is the best of this hotel. It is close to the station, and Kyoto has a great train coverage. If you are looking for a place where you'll only sleep after a long day of walk, it is a good place.
